Seven Gusties Earn All-Region USTFCCCA Honors

Three men and four women from the Gustavus track and field teams earned NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field honors.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – Three men and four women from the Gustavus track and field teams earned NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field honors. All-Region honors for the 2021 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). A total of 1152 honors were bestowed on 92 different institutions with 579 honors on the men’s side and an additional 573 for women’s teams. To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their respective region on the final TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region’s top-3 relay team was also selected for distinction.

Xander DuMoulin (Jr., Shorewood) garnered the honor in triple jump with a season high 6.83 mark. Steven Orzolek (Jr., Darwin) was recognized for his performance in shot put with his top career performance of a 17.04 toss. Taylor Rooney (Sr., Andover) was honored in his record breaking season in high jump (2.06), 60 meter hurdles (7.87), and the 200 meter dash (22.42). 

The women’s selection included newcomer Madi Kes (Fy., Jordan) in the triple jump who boasted a season high 11.69 mark. Doris-Klein Mor (Jr., Saint Peter) took the honor in field events with a season best 3.47m in pole vault as well as Annika Poe (So., Big Lake) who recorded 13.50 toss in shot put. Birgen Nelson (So., Edina) was selected in two categories, the 60 meter hurdles with a season high 8.76 time and the 200 meter dash with her 25.51 mark.
