Gustavus Women's Hockey coach Mike Carroll is no stranger to success. When he was named MIAC Coach of the Year this year, it was the seventh time he’d earned the honor in his 18-year career. The Gusties have made 12 NCAA appearances over their 20-year history, and he has coached them to 12 MIAC regular-season titles.

Women’s Hockey Claims Third Place At NCAA Championship, Defeats Norwich 3-1

For the third time in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Women's Hockey era, the Gustavus women’s hockey team finished its season with a win, taking third place at the 2017 NCAA Championship. The Gusties defeated Norwich University 3-1 Saturday at Arrington Ice Arena on the campus of Adrian College, claiming third place for the first time since 2005, while finishing the season with a 19-7-3 overall record.

A gritty and scrappy performance by the Gustavus women’s hockey team Friday resulted in game that needed more than 60 minutes to declare a victor. Amanda DiNella Becomes First Gustavus Women’s Hockey Goaltender Named All-America

Gustavus women's hockey sophomore goaltender Amanda DiNella was selected to the 2017 NCAA Division III CCM Women's Hockey All-American West First Team, released this evening by the American Hockey Coaches Association. DiNella becomes the 15th player, fifth sophomore, and first ever goalie in Gustavus Women's Hockey history to earn the prestigious honor, the last recognition coming from current assistant coach Courtney Boucher in 2015.

Women’s Hockey Prepared For NCAA Championship Weekend

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set for the 2016-17 NCAA Division III Championship semifinals this weekend in Adrian, Mich., hosted by Adrian College. The Gusties will take on Adrian College Friday evening with the winner moving on to the championship game versus Plattsburgh State or Norwich University at 7 p.m. (6 p.m. Central) Saturday, while the loser will play in a third place game at 3 p.m. (2 p.m. Central).

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Monday morning announced the eight-team field for its Division III Women’s Hockey Championship and Gustavus (17-6-3) is selected as an at-large bid to face the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (26-2-0) in the first round at 7 p.m. Friday, March 10. The first round game will be hosted by the Falcons’ Hunt Arena in River Falls, Wis., while the final four teams will compete March 17-18 at a location to be determined.

Klein, Fredrickson Named February Student-Athletes-Of-The-Month

Women’s hockey player Kaitlyn Klein (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) and men’s track and field mid-distance runner Kyle Fredrickson (Sr., Victoria, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College February Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.
