A small contingent of the Gustavus men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams kicked off the indoor season Saturday at the Chuck Peterson Open & Multi, hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato. Four athletes on the men’s team and five from the women’s squad competed on Saturday.

Justine Lee (Sr., Dawson, Minn.) posted a career-high 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting to lead the Gustavus women’s basketball team to a 65-56 win over Saint Mary’s Saturday at Gus Young Court, improving to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the MIAC.

The Gustavus women’s basketball continues its MIAC home stand Saturday as it plays host to Saint Mary’s at 1 p.m. The Gusties enter the contest 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals are 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Men’s Hockey Loses 3-1 to No. 15 St. Scholastica

The Gustavus men’s hockey team Friday night lost to No. 15 St. Scholastica 3-1 in non-conference action, dropping to 4-6-1 overall. Despite not getting the win on the ice, Gustavus earned a victory for its charitable efforts by hosting the annual Teddy Bear Toss Game, which collected hundreds of new stuffed animals with donations going to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital.

The Gustavus men's hockey team plays its final game before Christmas break on Friday night against No. 15 St. Scholastica. Puck drop between the 4-5-1 Gusties and 6-1-1 Saints is set for 7:05 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Coach Hanson Earns 500th Victory, Men’s Hoops Beats Macalester 87-50

Gustavus Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Hanson earned his 500th career victory Wednesday night as the Gusties defeated Macalester 87-50. Now in his 29th season at the helm, Hanson becomes the 16th active NCAA Division III men’s basketball coach to reach the milestone with a record of 500-267.

Women’s Hoops Hosts Macalester Wednesday Night

The Gustavus women’s basketball team starts a three-game home stand tonight as it takes on Macalester. The MIAC tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter the game 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the MIAC, while the Scots are 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Finch Named D3football.com All-West Region First Team

D3football.com released its All-West Region Teams on Tuesday morning and Gustavus junior tight end Brayton Finch (Mount Morris, Ill.) is named to the First Team Offense. Finch is the first Gustie football player to be named All-West First Team since wide receiver Matthew Boyce in 2015.

DiNella, Sonnek Named November Athletes of the Month

Women's hockey goaltender Amanda DiNella (Sr., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) and men's swimmer Tanner Sonnek (Sr., North Mankato, Minn.) have been named Gustavus November Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Month, which is voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department and presented by Thrivent Financial.

Penalty Killers Shine, Men’s Hockey Tops Bethel 3-1

The Gustavus men’s hockey team was able to salvage a series split with Bethel on Saturday night, winning 3-1. The victory improves the Gusties to 4-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the MIAC.
