Track & Field Set to Compete at MIAC Indoor Championships This Weekend

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to compete in the MIAC Indoor Championships on Thursday through Saturday at St. Olaf College. The men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon are on Thursday with the rest of the events running Friday and Saturday.

Women’s Basketball Upends Saint Ben’s 73-43 in MIAC Quarterfinal

The Gustavus women’s basketball team started its MIAC postseason run Tuesday with a decisive 73-43 quarterfinal win at Saint Benedict. The No. 5 Gusties controlled the boards, doubling up the No. 3 Bennies 46-23, while shooting an efficient 55.2 percent from the field. The Gustie defense was also stingy, holding the home team 28.8 percent shooting.

Women’s Basketball Begins MIAC Playoffs Tuesday at Saint Ben’s

The Gustavus women’s basketball team begins postseason play Tuesday night at Saint Benedict in the MIAC quarterfinals. Tipoff in St. Joseph, Minn. is set for 7 p.m. at Claire Lynch Hall. The No. 5 seed Gusties enter the game 14-11 overall, while the No. 4 seed Bennies are 15-10. Both teams finished the conference season 11-7, but the Bennies won the tiebreaker with a series sweep over the Gusties.

Men’s Tennis Wins Two in Home Opener

The Gustavus men’s tennis team completed a two-match sweep in its home opener Saturday, defeating Bethel 9-0 before beating Augustana 6-1 to improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC.

Men’s Hockey Drops Offensive Battle 7-5 to Saint John’s

The Gustavus men’s hockey team dropped an offensive battle Saturday night 7-5 to Saint John’s to finish the season 7-17-1 overall and 4-11-1 in the MIAC.

Lee Scores 1,000th Career Point, Women’s Hoops Tops Concordia 81-51

The Gustavus women’s basketball team Saturday finished the regular season with a convincing 81-51 victory at Concordia, improving to 14-11 overall and 11-7 in the MIAC. Justine Lee (Sr., Dawson, Minn.) etched her name in the Gustavus record books, becoming the 13th Gustie women’s basketball player to reach 1,000 career points. Lee finished the game with 17 points, including five three-pointers.

Men’s Track & Field Wins Maverick Invite

The Gustavus men’s track & field team won the Maverick Invite on Friday, hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Gusties scored 151 points.

Gymnastics Totals Season-High 184.775 in Home Opener

The Gustavus gymnastics team Friday night hosted its home opener and scored a season-high 184.775 in a WIAC dual loss to UW-Stout. The 184.775 score is the sixth-highest team total in program history.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out 2-0 at Saint John’s

The Gustavus men’s hockey team Thursday lost 2-0 against Saint John’s, falling to 7-16-1 overall and 4-10-1 in the MIAC. The Gusties are now eliminated from playoff contention.
