10 Swimmers Named CSCAA All-America

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently released its All-America honors and 10 Gustavus swimmers received recognition.

Gustavus Set to Induct Nine New Members into Athletics Hall of Fame

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Athletics has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2021 inductees include Beth DeLaRosby ’05 (swimming & diving), Doug Espenson ’05 (basketball), Tara Houlihan Whiting ’06 (tennis/volleyball), Bobby Kroog ’06 (soccer), Audrey Lenoch ’06 (softball), Lyndsey Palen Crossley ’06 (tennis), Amanda Parker ’05 (gymnastics), Ben Sherer ’06 (baseball), and Tom Thorkelson ’70 (coach).

Holtan Selected CoSIDA Academic All-District

Gustavus volleyball player Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) has been selected to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which was announced Thursday. Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Schwartz Selected CoSIDA Academic All-District

Gustavus men’s soccer player Cole Schwartz (Sr., Jakarta, Indonesia) has been selected to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which was announced Thursday. Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Novak Named D3baseball.com Third Team All-America

Bryce Novak (So., Cleveland) of Gustavus baseball has been selected to the D3baseball.com All-America Third Team, which was announced Wednesday. 

Four Gusties Tabbed D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region

Both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released their All-Region awards Tuesday and four Gusties were named to the All-Midwest Region Teams. In the D3baseball.com award, outfielder Bryce Novak (So., Cleveland) was selected to the First Team, first baseman Jack Hanson (Jr., Minnetonka) and relief pitcher Damon Rademacher (Sr., Princeton) made the Second Team, and Weston Lombard (Sr., Stillwater) was picked to the Third Team. In the ABCA/Rawlings awards, Novak and Rademacher were selected to the Second Team, while Hanson and Lombard made the Third Team.

Aney, Budde Earn All-America, Finish in Semifinal of NCAA Doubles Championships

Sunday's semifinal match of the NCAA Doubles Championships was a battle to the bitter end, but Gustavus's Nick Aney (Jr., Rochester) and Alex Budde (So., Menomonee Falls, Wis.) came up just short in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (2-7) loss to Jeffrey Chen and Adam Tzeng of Brandeis.

Aney, Budde Move On to NCAA Doubles Semifinals

The Gustavus men's tennis duo of Nick Aney (Jr., Rochester) and Alex Budde (So., Menomonee Falls, Wis.) are moving on to the NCAA Doubles Semifinals after defeating Daniel Blonquist and Marcos Dias of Southern Virginia 6-2, 6-1 Saturday at The Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park.
