The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) released its women’s basketball postseason awards Tuesday and four Gusties received recognition. Emma Kniefel (So., Medford) and Anna Sanders (Jr., Vadnais Heights) have been named All-Conference, while Kylie Baranick (Fy., Maple Grove) and Rachel Kawiecki (Fy., Richfield) have been named to the All-First Year Team.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Monday afternoon announced the 64-team field for its Division III Women’s Basketball Championship and Gustavus (22-4) is selected to face No. 5-ranked Simpson (25-1) in the first round on Friday, March 4, hosted by Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

For the first time in program history, Gustavus women’s basketball is the champion of the MIAC postseason tournament. The Gusties, now 22-4 overall, defeated MIAC regular season champion Augsburg 65-56 on Sunday afternoon, punching their ticket to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
