MINNEAPOLIS, Minn – Four Gusties competed at the University of Minnesota’s Jack Johnson Classic on Saturday.

Birgen Nelson took second place in the 60-hurdles with a time of 8.79. Nelson also took second in the 200-meter, crossing the line in 26.16. Carson Kiehne took seventh in the 400-meter in 50.92, while Wyatt Quiring finished 10th in 51.61. And Elizabeth Donnelly placed third in the 800-meter with a time of 2:16.34.

“This weekend was a great environment for championship racing,” Head Coach Aaron Lund said. “With back-to-back racing days and competitive fields, this was a good midseason test to see how our team responds. It is only a matter of time before Birgen’s strength and improvement on technical skills turn into an even bigger performance. Elizabeth’s growth and consistency were great to see this weekend. She is racing well each week and it will be fun to see what she can do in more big moments this year. I was impressed with Carson’s racing intensity and determination today. Him and Wyatt continue to push each other and are leading our men’s sprint group who are capable of high level achievements this season.”

Gustavus next competes Saturday at MSU-Mankato.
