SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss against the number six ranked UW-Stevens Point Pointers. With the loss, the Gusties move to a 1-2 record.

Both teams had dangerous opportunities in the first period with the Gusties initially outshooting the Pointers throughout most of the opening 20 minutes before entering the second period scoreless.

Gustavus looked to gain momentum on a power play halfway through the second period in what turned out to be a shorthanded goal for UW-Stevens Point for a 1-0 deficit before entering the third period.

Rallying back nine minutes into the third, Nick Klishko (Sr., San Diego) found the back of the net for an equalizer with assists credited to Patrick Gazich (Sr., Minnetonka) and Connor Clemons (Sr., Savage). When it looked like both teams would move to an overtime, UW-Stevens Point scored on a wrap around goal with 58 seconds left in regulation to hand the Gusties their second loss of the season.

Grant Boldt (Fy., Frazee) made his collegiate debut making 26 saves and holding the Pointers to two goals in his 60 minutes played.

The Gusties continue non-conference play when they host UW-Stout on Saturday night at 7:00.
