Volleyball Runs Away with Straight-Set Victory at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team won in straight sets over Carleton on Friday night (25-10, 25-20, 25-17). With the win, the Gusties improve to 14-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

“I felt our team hit efficiently and served very well,” said Head Coach Rachelle Sherden. “We look forward to continuing to face off against conference opponents in our match tomorrow at Bethel.”

Gustavus was strong on the attack with .538 percentage in the first set with a hard-hitting 25-10 performance to set the tone early in the match.

After trailing early in the second set, Carleton battled back to tie it up at 14. The Gusties put up a five point run in the middle frame finishing 25-20.

Despite a 5-3 Knights lead in the third set, Gustavus closed the match on a 10-3 run, slamming the door shut on Carleton.

Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) impressed with 17 kills in three sets, while Hailey Embacher (Sr., Mankato) notched 11 digs. Kasie Tweet (So., Adrian) finished the match with 32 assists.

The Gusties continue conference play on the road when they take on Bethel at 7:00 on Saturday.
