Meet our Teaching Assistant this year: Daniel López Fernández

Hello! My name is Daniel López Fernández. I have majored in Translation and Interpreting in English, French and Italian. I have studied languages my whole life and that’s why I wanted to learn about their cultures too!

That’s why I’m here, to get to know better the American culture and bring some of Spain’s knowledge and culture into Gustavus.

I was born in a city from Spain, called Gijón. I didn’t have a lot of opportunities to speak several languages in there. That’s why, when I finished high school, I went to Salamanca to study Translation and Interpreting. There, I had the opportunity to get to know people from a lot of countries around the globe. I was also volunteering in there with IES ABROAD, a non-profit study abroad organization, and that’s how I got to know about the opportunity to come to the U.S. with a scholarship. I applied for it, and that’s how I got in here!

I’m a very talkative person you can talk about every doubt you have about Spanish or about our culture. I would be pleased to help you with everything you need!

As an individual, I love reading books when I have free time, as I also love watching movies and listening to music. My favorite writer is Stephen King and my favorite book is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.
