Noted theologian, ethicist, writer, and preacher Rev. Dr. Russell Moore will be on campus on Wednesday and Thursday, Apr. 19-20, as our Lindau Resident and a guest of the Gustavus Religion Department. Moore will visit several classes; meet with College officials, Religion majors and faculty, and Christian students; and attend the weekly meeting of the Cru Bible study group. He will also be at Daily Sabbath on Thursday, Apr. 20 at 10 a.m. in Christ Chapel, which will be followed by a reception. All are welcome to attend the Sabbath and reception.
Moore is editor in chief at Christianity Today and director of the publication’s Public Theology Project, which seeks to revitalize matters of faith in public life. He was formerly president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. Moore has been an outspoken supporter of refugee resettlement efforts and a vocal critic of American racism and the display of the Confederate flag and monuments, for which he has received considerable backlash from onetime evangelical and conservative allies.
All are welcome to attend Thursday’s Daily Sabbath and the reception for Dr. Moore in Christ Chapel to meet Dr. Moore. For more information about his visit, go to gustavus.edu/events/lindau.
