Gustie Swimmers Compete in Day One of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Andrew Becker and Ellen Hofstede had strong showings in the NCAA DIII National Swimming Championships.

Day One Results

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Andrew Becker (Jr., Northfield) and Ellen Hofstede (Jr., Hopkins) had strong showings in the NCAA DIII National Swimming Championships. Becker was the lone MIAC men’s competitor and touched the wall at 20.24 in the 50 Free Preliminaries to set a new school record. His time of 20.43 was solid for 16th and an All-American Honorable Mention nod. Additionally, Becker holds a prelim time of 44.66 in the 100 Free.

Hofstede touched the wall at 23.45 in the 50 Free prelim and boasts the second best prelim time in the 100 Free (50:10).

Hofstede is also a part of the 200 Free Relay team alongside Abby Yartz, Marit Isaacson, and Lucy Peterson with a prelim time of 1:33.56 ranking in fifth and a 3:27.81 in the 400 Free Relay which is 15th.

The Gusties will be back racing in the pool on Thursday morning.
