SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team battled to a tough 181.650-180.275 loss to the Blugolds on Friday night at home.
Gustavus started out the night with a trio of Gusties taking the top three spots in vault, Sophie Redding (Sr., Saint Paul) led off with a 9.575 followed by Marley Michaud (Fy., Sartell) in second, and Abby Willis (So., San Bernardino, Calif.) rounded out the scores in third (9.350).
Redding kept the momentum going winning on bars (9.350) while Katy Cash (Canton, Mich.) took second posting an 8.975.
Emma Esteb (Jr., Woodbury) and Kendra Smaby (So., Palo Alto, Calif.) were the top finishers on beam for Gustavus with Esteb scoring a 9.225 placing fourth and Smaby scoring 9.100 to rank fifth.
Brooke Merila (Sr., St. Michael) kept the Gusties locked in for the final rotation on floor with a 9.375, finishing in all around with a 35.525.
The Gusties will next travel to UW-Stout on Thursday night with the meet beginning at 6:00.
