BROOKINGS, S.D. – Distance runners from the Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams competed Friday at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic and set a number of personal best times running against Division I competition.

“It was a really good night for us with a lot of PRs and a lot of conference qualifiers,” Assistant Coach Brenden Huber said. “That’s what we came here for and we got the job done. Even those who did not PR tonight stuck their nose out there and made a strong effort. It was great to get championship race experience.”

Henry Hinchcliffe clocked in an 8:40.57 in the 3000-meter, just three seconds off the school record, for 15th place and Bryce Knutson highlighted the 5000-meter, finishing 31st in 15:19.48. Lucas Schnirring and Matt Payne finished 39-40 at 15:29.55 and 15:34.02, respectively.

Iliana Ramon and Evelyn Villalobos finished one after another in the 5000-meter at 18:25.05 and 18:25.99, taking 20th and 21st respectively. Mackinzee Miest placed 30th in 19:10.93.
