BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Gustavus swimmers Dane Hudson (Jr., Eden Prairie) and Ellen Hofstede (Jr., Hopkins) have been selected MIAC Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances at the UW-Stevens Point Invite last Friday and Saturday.
Hudson placed among the top three finishers in three individual events and four relays to help the Gusties top regionally-ranked UW-Stevens Point in dual meet competition over the weekend. Hudson won the 100 back (53.63), tied for first in the 100 fly (52.22), and took third in the 200 back (2:01.39). He was also part of the first-place 200 free relay (1:26.77) and 400 free relay (3:12.12), as well as the second-place 200 medley relay (1:35.94) and 400 medley relay (3:32.22).
Hofstede enjoyed a clean sweep of all seven events she competed in against UW-Stevens Point last weekend. Hofstede placed first in the 50 free (24.62), 100 free (53.54), and 100 fly (1:00.52) as an individual, and helped the Gusties claim four relay victories in the 200 free (1:38.68), 400 free (3:40.45), 200 medley (1:52.72), and 400 medley (4:07.75).
