COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team is in second after day two of the MIAC Championship, carding a 288 as a team. After nine holes yesterday the Gusties are on par carding 147-288-435. Saint John’s leads the tournament after shooting 420 (-8).

Jacob Pedersen (Jr., Minnetonka) and Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine) etched their names in the second place slot of the MIAC record book with two-day scores of 104. Carleton’s Anderson Murphy tied the MIAC men’s 18-hole record while the Johnnies Nate Loxtercamp broke the 27-hole scoring record with a 102.

“One of the hard lessons in the game of golf is you can’t play defense,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “Even par as a team at that golf course is a great score. We know we need to come out tomorrow and fire at some pins to make a move early. That will be a lot of fun. Great rounds today by JP, Max and Wyatt. Looking for all five guys to finish on a great note tomorrow.”

Pedersen and Ullan sit tied in second, while Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo) shot 35-71 to tie in tenth. Andrew Hoppe (Jr., Mankato) and Ben Forsberg (So., Shafer) continued their momentum from Saturday, both carding 117 total tying in 15th.

The Gusties finish the tournament with the final round, teeing off at 9:54 Monday morning.
