MARSHALL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team finished the opening round of the EverSpring Inn Mustang Invite in 2nd place out of 10 teams with a total score of 309, Augustana currently leads by 10 strokes.
The Gusties are notably the only Division III team competing in the tournament.
“Nice to start off so well in a D2 event,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “We know we can compete with them and we showed it today. We need to come back with the same mindset tomorrow and have a great showing. Erin and Emily posted great scores and Annika came through big with a 78, should be a fun day tomorrow.
Erin Ericson (Sr., Onalaska, Wis.) sits in third place after carding 74, followed by Emily Kratz (Sr., Edina) who is tied in 6th with a 76. Annika Reierson (So., Delano) ties in 11th shooting 78, while Sydney Regalado (Sr., Rosemount) finished with an 81 mark. Laurel Ward (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.) carded an 84 to round out the Gustie lineup.
The team tees off in round two of the invitational at 9:00 on Sunday.
