Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. – The Gustavus men’s golf team shot a 305 (+17) today and combines with Sunday’s 293 (+5) to be slotted at 14th out of 24 on day two of the NCAA Division III Fall Preview on Sunday at the Las Colinas Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort & Club with a total score of 598 (+22). Methodist University continues to lead the talented field with a score of 563 (-13).
“The bottom line today is that we did not get off to a start, a good middle third, nor a finish today,” said Coach Randall Stuckey. “The guys were grinding as much as they could but it just wasn’t there. Golf is a difficult game and some days it’s just not there and today was one of those days. We have one more day to improve our finish in the tournament and it would be nice to turn our games around before next weekends Twin Cities classic tournament. However, I was impressed with the play of Wyatt Wasko today. His play was very consistent and worked his way around some difficult situations and made good things happen.”
Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine) leads the Gusties with a second round score of 75, putting him at 143 combined and is tied in ninth. Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo) climbed the board after carding a 72 and totals 146, tying in 27th. Jacob Pedersen (Sr., Minnetonka) is tied in 61st with a second day score of 77 following his 74 on Sunday. Khrystjan Petersen (Jr., Faribault) is tied for 115th with a scored of 77-84, and Carter Czichotzki (Sr., Moorhead) is tied for 119th with an 83-81.
