DuMoulin also won the long and triple jumps with distances of 6.68 meters and 13.67 meters. In the lone throwing event Saturday, Connor Gag (Jr., New Ulm) won the discus with a distance of 41.93 meters.
“We approached today with a developmental mindset, trying out some new concepts with the guys,” Assistant Coach Nathan Harder said. “The unexpected San Diego weather was a nice bonus which put us into a relaxed mindset over the course of the morning, where our guys did really well for themselves, competing against each other and mixing things up left us in a good spot. We will be able to use today as a jumping-off point as we move into next week and the competitions beyond.”
Gustavus hosts the Drake Alternative next Saturday.
