BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Gustavus men’s track & field athletes Steven Orzolek (Jr., Darwin) and Taylor Rooney (Sr., Andover) have been named MIAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at Saint John’s on Saturday.
Orzolek had a lifetime best performance in the shot put with his 17.04-meter toss to finish first at the Saint John’s Invitational. The throw ranks fourth in all of NCAA Division III this season.
Rooney concluded his indoor season at the Saint John’s Invitational with a time of 7.90 in the 60-meter hurdles to set a new facility record and claim first in the nation in the event. Rooney also placed first in the high jump (1.95 meters) to rank second in NCAA Division III this year.
