Emma Ziesemer Headshot“The professors in this Department have given me so many skills to help me prepare for a career”

Emma Ziesemer is from Waconia, Minnesota. She is also a triple major! Ziesmer focuses on Financial Economics, Spanish, and LALACS. She chose LALACS  to get a new perspective on cultures that she couldn’t get in a Spanish class on its own. She also chose Gustavus due to the small town, home-like feeling on campus.

Ziesmer describes the environment in LALACS as extremely accepting. “The professors are amazing when it comes to working with each student’s individual needs,” said Ziesemer, whose favorite class experience was  having weekly conversations with people who currently live in Spain. She also talked about how many opportunities inside class she had to try food from different Latin American countries and cultures.

Her advisor Angelique Dwyer has always advocated for what she believes is best for Ziesmer. “She has bent over backward to help me succeed in my classes within the department, ” Ziesmer said.

The Department’s faculty helped Ziesmer prepare for a future career by making her comfortable about her abilities and knowledge, and she shares that she was able to gain many resume-building opportunities throughout her time in the Department.
