Men’s Hockey Loses 4-1 to Augsburg

The Gustavus men’s hockey team Friday lost 4-1 to Augsburg at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team Friday lost 4-1 to Augsburg at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Gusties drop to 2-14-2 overall and 0-8-1 in the MIAC, while the Auggies improve to 9-6-1 overall and 5-2-0 in the league.

Augsburg took the first lead of the game with a power play goal at the 7:47 mark and maintained the one-goal lead through the first intermission. The Gusties scored their lone goal of the game at the 3:10 mark of the second as Nate Stone (Fy., Edina) scored his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Christian Miller (Fy., Grand Rapids) and Nick Mountain (Fy., Woodbury). The Auggies scored what proved to be the game winner at the 16:21 mark and added another goal with less than two minutes left in the period.

Augsburg added an insurance goal in the third for the decisive win.

The Auggies outshot the Gusties 24-18 as Jackson Hjelle (Jr., Delano) made 20 saves. The Auggies went 2-for-4 on the power play while the Gusties went 0-for-4.

The MIAC series wraps up tomorrow night in Minneapolis.
