Men’s Golf Tied for Third After Round Two at MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men’s golf team shot a 299 (+11) Sunday during the second round of the MIAC Championships at Bunker Hills Golf Club and sits in a tie for third place.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team shot a 299 (+11) Sunday during the second round of the MIAC Championships at Bunker Hills Golf Club and sits in a tie for third place. The Gusties have a total of 600 and are 25 stroke behind the leader Bethel.

Wyatt Wasko (Sr., Lake Elmo) moved 11 spots up the leaderboard Sunday after shooting a one-under 71 and is tied for fourth with a total of 145. After knocking in four birdies during the second round, Wasko is nine stroke off the lead. Sam Skaar (Sr., Coleraine) shot a 75 and is tied for 10th with a total of 149. Both Teddy Kaste (So., Apple Valley) and Cam Longie (So., Hutchinson) shot 77 and are tied for 20th, while Chris Gutuza (Fy., Johannesburg, South Africa) posted a 76 and is tied for 28th.

“Hoping to take advantage of the par five opportunities tomorrow,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “We have certainly left some out there and tomorrow we are going to go find them. Nice to see our two seniors Wyatt and Sam currently in the top 10. Looking for all guys to post solid rounds on the final day.

The third and final round of the MIAC Championships begins 8 a.m. Monday morning.
