MARSHALL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team is in seventh place after Saturday’s first round of the EverSpring Inn Mustang Invite. The Gusties shot a 330 (+42) and are 20 strokes behind the leader Augustana (S.D.).

Annika Reierson (Jr., Delano) holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard after posting an even-par 72. Reierson had five birdies in her round. Laurel Ward (Sr., Bozeman, Mont.) and Lauren Hubbart (Fy., Hastings) are tied for 23rd with an 81. Emily Kolb (Fy., Sioux Falls, S.D.) is tied for 45th at 86. Kristin Martens (Sr., Sartell) is tied for 66th at 91 and Zada Olig (Sr., Wayzata) is tied for 76th at 97.

“What a great round from Annika today,” Assistant Coach Randy Stuckey said. “All aspects of her game were on including some tremendous drives, good approach shots, and she made her putts. When they didn’t roll in, her lag putting was solid. It was a career day for her and she has been moving in this direction during the fall. We’re still having trouble as a team getting a good start on the first day by not being comfortable and totally committed to shots. Pressure is a part of the game and we must embrace it. We cannot wait to start playing well in the middle or later in the round.”

The second round begins Sunday morning.
