Men’s Golf Second After Round One at Saint John’s Fall Invite

The Gustavus men’s golf team sits in a tie for second place after Saturday’s first round at the Saint John’s Fall Invite, played at the St. Cloud Country Club. The Gusties shot a seven-over 295 and are 11 strokes behind the leader Saint John’s.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team sits in a tie for second place after Saturday’s first round at the Saint John’s Fall Invite, played at the St. Cloud Country Club. The Gusties shot a seven-over 295 and are 11 strokes behind the leader Saint John’s.

Wyatt Wasko (Sr., Lake Elmo) and Chris Gutuza (Fy., Johannesburg, South Africa) are leading the way for the Gusties, tied at seventh after carding one-over 73. Wasko posted a pair of birdies, while Gutuza marked two birdies and an eagle on the par-five fourth hole. Sam Skaar (Sr., Coleraine) also eagled the fourth hole and is tied for 13th at 74. Teddy Kaste (So., Apple Valley) posted a 75 and is tied for 19th, while Jack Reinardy (So., Andover) is tied for 31st at 77. 

“We got off to a great start with some good momentum,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “Nice to see some red numbers on the scorecard. We gave back some shots late in the round and looking to clean that up tomorrow out at Blackberry. Excited to tee it up for another chance.”

The Gusties continue play tomorrow at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell, Minn.
