SAINT PETER, Minn. – The 2022 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship bracket was released Monday and Gustavus is slated to travel to the University of Chicago where it will face the winner of North Central and UW-Superior in the second round on Friday, May 13. The winner will face either Illinois Tech, Greenville, or Chicago on Saturday, May 14 with a spot in the national quarterfinals on the line.
The Gusties (23-10) earned an automatic qualifier to the national tournament by winning the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoff 5-0 over Carleton on Saturday. North Central (24-4) earned an automatic qualifier by winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and are making their first NCAA appearance, while UW-Superior (16-5) also earned an AQ by winning the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).
Gustavus is making its 34th NCAA tournament appearance, marking the third most appearances in NCAA Division III history behind Kalamazoo (38) and Emory (35).
