SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of St. Olaf on Sunday. The Gusties lost game one 10-1 in five innings before a 4-1 loss in game two. The Gusties drop to 13-21 overall and 8-12 in the MIAC, while the Oles improve to 22-16 overall and 17-3 in the league.

The Gusties led 1-0 after the first as Kaylyn Leonard (Sr., Plymouth) singled and scored on a single off the bat of Greta Dahlen (Fy., West Des Moines, Iowa), but that was it for the home team. The Oles tooka 3-1 lead in the third after three hits and three errors. St. Olaf added two runs on two hits and two errors in the fourth, and put the game out of reach in the fifth with five runs on four hits and three errors.
Piper Otto (So., Brooklyn Park) took the loss after 4.1 innings. She allowed 10 runs, just three earned, on nine hits and three strikeouts. Leonard (2-3, R) and Dahlen (2-3, RBI) led at the plate.

The Gusties once again took a 1-0 lead in the first as Leonard reached on an error and later scored on a sac fly by Rachel Kawiecki (Fy., Richfield), but once again that would be it for the home team.
St. Olaf gained a 2-1 lead in the second after three hits and an error. The Oles added two more runs in the fourth on one hit, two walks, and an error. The Gusties should have scored a run in the fifth but a base running error negated the opportunity.
Payton Belt (So., Indianola, Iowa) suffered the complete game loss after allowing four runs, all unearned, on 10 hits and two strikeouts. Five different Gusties had one hit apiece.
Gustavus wraps up the season tomorrow at home against St. Scholastica. Game one of the doubleheader begins at 3:30 p.m.
