BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team won a MIAC dual meet against Saint John’s on Thursday at Minnesota Valley Country Club. The Gusties shot a four-over par 296, edging the Johnnies by one stroke.

Jacob Pedersen (Sr., Minnetonka) and Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo) shared medalist honors, both carding a two-under 71. After finishing the front nine at two-over, Pedersen closed out the back nine with five birdies. He had six birdies in the round. Wasko was consistent with pars on 16 holes and two birdies. Ben Forsberg (So., Shafer), playing on the second team, tied for fourth with Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine), each shooting an even-par 73.

We sure made it interesting out there,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “A couple bad holes early, found a little better rhythm on the back nine and saw some putts fall in. Saint John’s is a great team and anytime you can squeeze out a win is a good day. Happy about how we fought for everything we got. It was nice to have the weather cooperate. Minnesota Valley was in amazing condition. Thank you to the head pro Matt and his staff for making today happen. Very solid day for our top three guys, JP, Max, and Wyatt. Forsberg played solid and finished top five. Looking forward to this weekend for two, one-day tournaments hosted by Saint John’s.”

Gustavus next competes at the Saint John’s Winter Classic on Saturday at the Lynx National Golf Course in Sauk Centre and then Sunday at the Saint John’s Spring Invitational at the Monticello Country Club.
