INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the accepted entries to its Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships and three Gustavus student-athletes have qualified.
Elizabeth Donnelly (Sr., Langely, Wash.) will compete in the 800-meter with a seed time of 2:11.97, which ranks fourth in the country. Birgen Nelson (So., Edina) will race the 60-hurdles with a seed time of 8.60, ranking second. And Annika Poe (Jr., Big Lake) will compete in the shot put with a mark of 13.80 meters, ranking 13th.
For each individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition. The Gusties’ 4×400 relay team was just one spot shy of gaining an invite to the national meet.
The championships will be held March 11-12 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with Visit Winston-Salem and Guilford College serving as hosts.
