Gymnastics Breaks School Record on Vault Against UW-Oshkosh

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team hosted UW-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon while honoring its seniors, Brooke Merila (Sr., St. Michael), Sophie Redding (Sr., Saint Paul), and Lauren Smith (Sr., Mangatangi, New Zealand). The Gusties set a new team record on vault and scored 182.40 overall to the Titans 188.800

The Gusties set a new team record on vault and scored 182.40 overall to the Titans 188.800

Gustavus started the day on vault with every Gustie setting new personal bests and a new team school record in the event with a 47.475. Abby Willis (So., San Bernardino, Calif.) and Redding each had team highs of 9.550 to tie in fourth. The Gusties won the event 47.475-47.450

The Titans had the advantage on bars, winning 46.600 to the Gusties 44.100. Redding had a first place finish with a 9.450.

Emma Esteb (Jr., Woodbury) led Gustavus on beam (9.350) to finish fifth, while veteran Merila was the top finisher on floor placing fifth (9.475) and in all-around (36.100).

The Gusties will next compete in the WIAC Championships next Saturday.
