Gustavus Adolphus College COVID-19 Weekly Update: February 1, 2022

Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.

WEEKLY TIP

Testing to Begin Spring Semester: Members of the Gustavus community are strongly encouraged to get tested before returning to campus and/or at an on-campus mass testing event at the beginning of Spring Semester. Upcoming on-campus mass testing options for students, faculty, and staff include:

TODAY, Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
TOMORROW, Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

All on-campus mass testing events take place on the second floor of Lund Center above Gus Young Court. No appointments are needed.

Modified Course Schedule | Wednesday, February 2: Gustavus will begin the semester Wednesday with an altered course schedule to provide additional time for on-campus mass testing for students, faculty, and staff. Courses scheduled for 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. have been modified.

8-8:50 a.m. – normal
9-9:50 a.m. – normal
10:30 a.m. classes begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 12 p.m.
11:30 a.m. classes begin at 12:10 p.m. and run until 12:40 p.m.
12:30 p.m. classes begin at 12:50 p.m. and run until 1:20 p.m.
1:30 p.m. classes and beyond begin on time and run on schedule.

College officials will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments to campus regulations if needed.

This data set is meant to encompass the on-campus impact of COVID-19 by counting cases where a person may have been on campus while infectious. For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information, along with statistics from the 2020-2021 academic year, is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard History page.
