Gymnastics Competes in WIAC Triangular at Hamline

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team placed third with a score of 172.250 in a Friday night triangular at Hamline. The second regionally ranked UW-Whitewater Warhawks won the meet with a score of 185.025 while Hamline placed second (181.550).

Top finishers for the Gusties included Sophie Redding (Sr., Saint Paul), Annie Corbett (Jr., Brookfield Wis.), Lindsey Bangs (Fy., Owatonna), Brooke Merila (Sr., St. Michael), and Abby Willis (So., San Bernardino, Calif.).

Gustavus looked to continue its success on bars as No. 1 Redding placed second overall with a score of 9.625, and newcomer Bangs kept the momentum going on beam placing second with a career high of  9.5.

Corbett came away with a pair of top five finishes, scoring 9.350 on bars and 9.1 on beam.

For the second rotation Gustavus competed on floor and Merila was the top finisher in the Gustie lineup scoring a 9.575

The Gusties ended the night on vault and Willis placed fourth with the judges posting a 9.350.

Gustavus will hosts its first home meet of the season on Feb. 4th against Winona.
