Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA Academic Awards

The Gustie men posted a 3.478 GPA while the Gustie women achieved a 3.752 GPA, earning distinction as All-Academic Teams. All-Academic Athletes were also recognized and five Gustavus student-athletes received the honor.

NEW ORLEANS – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams were recognized with academic awards by the USTFCCCA on Thursday. The Gustie men posted a 3.478 GPA while the Gustie women achieved a 3.752 GPA, earning distinction as All-Academic Teams. All-Academic Athletes were also recognized and five Gustavus student-athletes received the honor; Henry Hinchcliffe (Jr., Austin), Bryce Knutson (Sr., Owatonna), and Andrew Stumbo (Sr., Boone, Iowa) represented the men, while Lily Engebretson (Sr., White Bear Lake) and Evelyn Villalobos (So., Crystal) represented the women.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers, while student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
