COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Saint John’s Fall Finale on Friday and came away victorious in the mixed 8k race. Both the Gustie men and women won the five-team competition by placing six individuals in the top ten.
“It was a lot of fun today to have that one last chance after the conference meet for all those that are not on our region squad,” Head Coach Brenden Huber said. “Both the men and women competed really well. They executed smart race plans and we saw a lot of good end of season racing out of our kids. Typically, it’s a little more contested at this race, but to come home with six in the top ten on each side and win both sides shows our depth and that our next wave is competitive and doing well.”
Molly Weberg (Jr., Duluth) won the women’s race with a time of 20:06.0. Sydney Hagen (Fy., Starbuck) took fifth in 21:01.0, Abby Vizenor (Fy., Jordan) placed sixth in 21:05.0, Taina Koivisto (Jr., Babbitt) seventh in 21:23.0, Lindsey Paulson (Sr., Minneapolis) eighth in 21:24.0, and Caitlyn Storley (Jr., Rosemount) ninth in 21:24.0.
Noah Johnson (Sr., Stillwater) won the men’s race in 26:53.0. Lucas Schnirring (Sr., Eden Prairie) place third in 27:03.0, Tucker Wallin (Jr., Red Wing) fifth in 27:40.0, Trevor Lavigne (Jr., Farmington) seventh in 27:55.0, Zane Michael (Sr., Ashland, Ohio) eighth in 27:55.0, and Jack Marble (Jr., Eden Prairie) 10th in 28:16.0.
