Miramar Beach, Fla. – The Gustavus women’s golf team carded a 332 (+44) in the opening round of the Golfweek DIII Invite. Centre College leads the tournament with a first round score of 295 (+7).
“The gals really wanted to get off to a good start today and I think they put a bit too much pressure on themselves,” said Coach Randall Stuckey. “Our iron play off the tee and approach shots were not solid and the wind affected the flight of the ball. Tomorrow will be a day when we need to make better contact and also adjust to the speed of the greens. Looking forward to two more rounds at a very competitive tournament.”
Emily Kratz (Sr., Edina) leads off for the Gusties carding a 78 (+6) in 29th, Laurel Ward (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.) follows her on the scorecard with an 84 (+12). Erin Ericson (Sr., Onalaska, Wis.) and Sydney Regalado (Sr., Rosemount) each carded 85 (+13) while Annika Reierson (So., Delano) carded an 86 (+14).
The Gusties tee off in round two starting at 7:20 am on Monday.
