SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s tennis doubles tandem of Nick Aney (Sr., Rochester) and Alex Budde (Jr., Menomonee Falls, Wis.) received an at-large bid to compete at the ITA Cup this week. Aney and Budde are set to face Leach and Lemaitre of George Fox at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
Aney and Budde won three matches at the ITA Midwest Region Championships on Oct. 1-3 at Gustavus before falling in the semifinals. They defeated doubles teams from Luther, UW-Whitewater, and Carleton by scores of 8-1, 8-3, and 8-3, respectively, and then lost to Luther’s top tandem 8-7.
