COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team is in third after the first round of the MIAC Championship, carding a 147 in nine holes before being halted by rain. Saint John’s currently leads the tournament, shooting 140.
“After a long rain delay I was hoping we could have finished a little stronger but it’s a long tournament,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “I’m glad we got in 9 holes today. Great scores by Max and JP, I know we will get everyone on the right path tomorrow and post some great numbers, it’s gonna be fun!”
Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine) is in third overall carding a 34, followed by Jacob Pedersen (Sr., Minnetonka) who is tied in fourth with a 35. Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo), Andrew Hoppe (Jr., Mankato), and Ben Forsberg (So., Shafer) each carded 39 tying in nineteenth to close out day one.
Full rounds of 18 holes are expected to be played on Sunday starting at 11:00 a.m. and Monday at 8:30 a.m., with the tournament being shortened to 45 holes in total.
