BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The MIAC announced its softball awards Monday and Gustavus has two student-athletes on the All-Conference Team. Madelyn Mueller (Fy., North Mankato) and Ashley Neuenfeldt (Sr., Bloomington) both earned nods to the All-MIAC team. Additionally, Piper Otto (Fy., Brooklyn Park) was named an honorable mention.
Neuenfedlt earns her first All-Conference honors after being named Honorable Mention in 2018 and 2019. Neuenfeldt, who was named to the All-Conference team as a pitcher, had a very successful season as one of the team’s two primary pitchers, as well as a lead off hitter in the Gustie lineup. On the mound, Neuenfeldt compiled a 7-8 record overall, pitching 87.0 innings, posting an ERA of 4.10, and striking out 39 batters. At the plate, the Bloomington native hit .392 while slugging a team-leading .453.
Mueller played in all 34 games for the Gusties hitting a team best .306 with 25 runs, four doubles, four triples, and seven RBI. Mueller slugged at .417 with an on-base percentage of .414. As a center fielder, Mueller posted a fielding percentage of .963 with 71 putouts, six assists, and just three errors. She finishes third in the conference with 21 stolen bases.
Named as an honorable mention pitcher, Otto finishes her rookie season with a 7-5 record and a 2.71 ERA after pitching 72 innings for the Gusties while striking out 54 batters.
Amanda Markert (So., Shakopee) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
