Men’s Golf Places Fourth in MIAC Championships

HASTINGS, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team finished in fourth place at the MIAC Championship with finals scores of 303-290-299-892 (+28).

Saint John’s won the tournament posting a 284-281-285-850 (-14).

“The men did a nice job to hold her position in fourth place,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “Jacob had a great three under round today, and climbed his way into 5th, earning all-conference honors. Proud of the battle throughout the weekend, there was never any quit in their game.  To have four guys playing in their first varsity matches and conference championship this year, we have come a long way and they put up a good fight.”

Jacob Pedersen (Jr., Minnetonka) finished the weekend with final scores of 77-70-69-216 (E) to tie in fifth place overall in the championship and garnered all-conference honors for the third consecutive season.

Andrew Hoppe (So., Mankato) maintained consistent for the Gusties throughout each round with a 73-74-75-222 (+6) finish tying in fourteenth. Wyatt Wasko (So., Lake Elmo) had impressionable early rounds to set Gustavus ahead shooting 74-73-78-225 (+9) placing twentieth.

Tommy Hiniker (Fy., Edina) capped his first-year campaign with final marks of 81-73-80-234 (+18) finishing in 30th overall. Sam Skaar (Jr., Bovey) rounded out the Gustie scores shooting 79-80-77-236 (+20).
