HASTINGS, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team began its conference season when they hosted a MIAC triangular placing second out of five teams. The Gusties fell one stroke behind St. Thomas with a final score of 297 (+10).
Jacob Pedersen (Jr., Minnetonka) and Wyatt Wasko (So., Lake Elmo) finished tied in first place individually with a mark of 72. Andrew Hoppe (So., Mankato) placed in tenth recording a 76 followed by Sam Skaar (Jr., Bovey) finishing in fifth scoring a 78, and Tommy Hinker (Fy., Edina) rounded out the scores to rank 24th after shooting an 80.
“The team started the round sharp off the tee but our iron play, particularly approach shots were not sharp today,” said Coach Randall Stuckey. “It just left us in some tough situations where we need to get up and down for par. The guys battled hard and we know what we need to work on going forward.”
The team next competes when they host the Bobby Krig invite on Sunday, April 18th.
