SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s tennis team Saturday shut out Morningside 9-0 at the Swanson Tennis Center to remain perfect at 6-0 this season. The Gusties used 12 players in the decisive victory with straight-set victories in all six singles and doubles going 8-3, 8-2, and 8-1.
“The guys came out with great energy in the doubles today,” Head Coach Tommy Valentini said. “We executed our plan very well on all three courts. Once we had the lead the guys played very aggressively in the singles. We had a few challenging moments early on some singles courts, but the guys showed a lot of poise and supported each other beautifully and were all able to open things up in the second sets. We’re thankful to have been able to compete again this weekend and will look to learn from the match and make more progress moving forward.”
