TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday announced its UTR ITA Player of the Week and Gustavus men’s tennis sophomore Daniel Fouchier (Nootdorp, Netherlands) was selected as the Division III honoree.

This past week, Fouchier remained undefeated on the young season in singles and doubles. Fouchier was in the lineup for the Gusties against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Paired with Xavier Sanga (Sr., Madison, Wis.) at No. 2, he notched an 8-3 win in doubles for his team. He followed up the doubles victory with a dominant No. 3 singles win against Demetri Bush. Fouchier has only allowed his opponents three games total through his first two singles matches of the season.

Fouchier’s UTR rating jumped from a 10.09 nine days ago to a 10.62. UTR is a rating system that provides a single, unifying language and standard for tennis players across ages, geography, gender and economics.

The UTR ITA Player of the Week award is entering year two of being awarded. The UTR ITA Player of the Week awards program honors male and female individuals from all five divisions (NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College) with weekly awards during the spring dual-match season.
