INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Monday announced the 64-team field for its Division III Women’s Basketball Championship and Gustavus (25-2) is selected to face Ohio Wesleyan (18-10) in the first round, hosted by UW-Whitewater.
Ohio Wesleyan earned an automatic bid after defeating Oberlin 79-71 to win the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, and finished third in the conference with a NCAC record of 10-4.
The first round matchup between the Gusties and the Bishops will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. The Gusties enter the national tournament for the second-straight year and will be the sole team representing the MIAC in the tournament.
The Gusties’ regional bracket also includes host UW-Whitewater and Webster University. Tip off for the Gusties is set for 5:15 on Friday.
