What’s Your Favorite Children’s Book?

Caldecott Medal Book CoversJoin the Library in celebrating Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week the first week of February! There are many ways to celebrate:

Visit the book display: Visit the Children’s Authors and Illustrators display near the library entrance – maybe you’ll see some of your favorites!

Participate in our FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK POLL: Share the title of your favorite children’s book and we’ll enter your name in a drawing. The prize: we’ll add a new book to our Children’s Literature Collection in your honor!

Give a Mouse a Cookie: Well, actually, give yourself a cookie! Tea Tuesday, February 7: Cookies will be available while supplies last at the Tea Cart (main floor) in honor of Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week.

Visit the Children’s Literature Collection: Take a study break and visit the Children’s Collection on the first floor (lower level). It’s used by students studying education and children’s literature and by some of the youngest visitors to the Library. While you’re there, you can peruse the Young Adult Collection as well – you can find your favorite Harry Potter books and more! You can also peruse our list of winners of books awards for children’s and young adult literature.

Celebrate Local Authors: Did you know? We have two authors of children’s and young adult books among our own Library faculty and staff: Librarian & Professor Julie Gilbert and Acquisitions Manager Kate Sonsteby!
