ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — One week after a heartbreaking loss to St. Olaf, the Gusties dealt Bethel their own 1-0 loss, as Cambelle Waldspurger’s (Fy., Mahtomedi) early first-half goal was enough to lead the Gusties to victory.

The Gusties got off to an early lead over the Royals, with Waldspurger netting her team-leading sixth goal of the season just five minutes into play. Molly Waters (Sr., Lakeville) almost added another, as her shot just barely tipped off the crossbar and over the hands of Bethel goalkeeper Izzy Smith in the 20th minute. The Gusties wrapped up the first half with an 8-1 lead in shots.

Bethel shutout the Gustie offense in the second half, limiting them to just two shots, while the Royals added three of their own. After making 17 saves in her last two games, Abby Goodno (Sr., Little Canada) added two more between the pipes for the Gusties, rolling to a MIAC shutout.

The Gusties, now 7-7-1 and 4-5 in the MIAC, are back in action on Tuesday for their final home game of the year — a 3:30 MIAC match-up against Hamline.
