Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.

Vaccine Eligibility: Based on updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), almost every vaccinated Gustavus student, faculty, and staff member is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine booster because a college/university campus meets the criteria for working or living in a high-risk setting. The CDC is recommending COVID-19 booster shots to everyone who received a Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine at least two (2) months ago, and adults aged 18-64 years who work or live in high-risk settings (which includes colleges) and received their second dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine at least six (6) months ago. Gustavus is prioritizing giving booster shots to individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine and will be reaching out to those individuals to offer a booster on campus. Other vaccinated members of the Gustavus community are encouraged to get a booster shot at an off-campus location. Explore vaccine options at the Gustavus Vaccine Resources webpage.
Masking: The Gustavus campus remains at Masking Level 2. Masks required in all indoor buildings except for Gustavus students in residence halls and for employees in their office with the door closed. This is based on the campus masking criteria because transmission in the surrounding counties and COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state are still high. Members of the Gustavus community are reminded that masks are to be worn snugly and over the nose.

This data set is meant to encompass the on-campus impact of COVID-19 by counting cases where a person may have been on campus while infectious. For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information, along with statistics from the 2020-2021 academic year, is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard History page.
