TO: The Gustavus Community
FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team
SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update
DATE: September 28, 2021
Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.
WEEKLY TIP
#1 – The Gustavus campus remains at masking level two. Masks or facial coverings are required in all buildings except for residence halls. Exceptions include employees working alone in an office with the door closed, and for individuals who are seated and actively eating or drinking.
#2 – The current on-campus vaccination rate is 93% for students and 93% for faculty and staff. COVID-19 vaccines are incredibly successful, but they are not 100% effective at preventing infection. When a fully vaccinated person tests positive for COVID-19, it is called a breakthrough case. We have had and will continue to have breakthrough cases at Gustavus.
#3 – No matter your vaccination status, you should get tested if you experience any symptoms or may be a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. On-campus testing is available to all members of the Gustavus community on Wednesday mornings from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on the second floor of Lund Center, and through the Gustavus Health Service by appointment. Several off-campus locations offer testing in the Saint Peter and Mankato area. Learn more about testing resources both on and off campus.

This information, along with statistics from the 2020-2021 academic year, is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard History page.
