COVID-19 Weekly Update: September 21, 2021

TO: The Gustavus Community

FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: September 21, 2021

Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.

WEEKLY TIP

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to take steps to limit possible COVID-19 exposure while eating on campus. Here are some tips for safer campus dining:

  • The Market Place and Evelyn Young Dining Room are especially busy at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. on weekdays. Avoid these times if your schedule allows.
  • Spread out as you are able. Extra seating is available in the Jackson Campus Center Banquet Rooms on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The Courtyard Cafe (lower level of the Jackson Campus Center) and The STEAMery (Nobel Hall/Gardner Theatre lobby) are open and offer food options.
  • Consider using a compostable “to-go” box at no extra charge.
  • Extra picnic tables have been placed outside the Courtyard Cafe in the Johns Family Courtyard, on the south mall, and on the Annexstad Mall.

Eating and drinking is allowed when seated in public lounge spaces in academic buildings and private offices. It is not allowed in hallways or classrooms before, during, or after class. Eating and drinking is also not allowed while standing or walking in buildings.

As a reminder, masks are required in public spaces except while seated and actively eating or drinking.

This information, along with statistics from the 2020-2021 academic year, is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard History page.

As always, if you have any questions, please consult the College’s COVID-19 website and email g-covidresponse@gustavus.edu.
