What is your first Gustavus memory?

I remember meeting my fellow freshmen on 4th North during Freshman Orientation. A number of these good men became lifelong friends.

What was your favorite class and/or professor and why?

Oh, goodness, this is a tough question. I loved my first semester of courses, for I was challenged to think independently in World Religions with Dr. Bill Dean and General Psychology with Dr. John Kendall (among others). I loved J-Term courses as well, Volcanology with Jim Welsh and the Psychology of Music with Mark Kruger, in particular. And I could go on and on…

What do you miss most about your time as a student?

I miss the intellectual stimulation of the classroom and the camaraderie with good, good friends.

What brought you to campus the last time you visited?

Alumni Board meetings

How has your Gustavus experience most impacted your life beyond the Hill?

I was encouraged and pushed to think critically and to support my ideas with credible evidence, and those habits have stayed with me and are at the core of my current vocation.

What do you most enjoy about being a Gustie alum?

The connections I made on the hill, the friendships I established, are priceless. I also value the chance to share Gustavus with students, for I am proud of my alma mater, proud to be a Gustie for life.
