María Isabel Kalbermatten (Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures) was invited to give a presentation about her current scholarship and research by the Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Linguistic Association of the Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies at the University of Minnesota. The title of her presentation was “From Monologuist Theories to a Dialogical Analysis of Verbal Irony in Conversation,” which is the main topic of her upcoming book on verbal irony in Spanish. It is also the subject of a paper she will present online at the international conference of ALFAL (Association of Linguistics and Philology of Latin America) in August.
