TO: The Gustavus Community

FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: March 12, 2021

WEEKLY TIP
As the seasons change, many people experience allergies or other symptoms that may be similar to those that are warning signs for COVID-19. Here’s a reminder for how to handle symptoms that may or may not be related to the coronavirus.
If you have one less-common COVID symptom:
If a person has one less-common symptom such as sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, muscle pain, excessive fatigue, new onset of severe headache, new onset of nasal congestion or runny nose, they should get tested and limit their contact with others. Students living on campus may remain in their housing assignment until test results return.
If you have two (or more) less-common symptoms OR one (or more) more common COVID symptoms:
If a person has one or more common symptom such as fever greater than or equal to 100.4 F, new onset and/or worsening cough, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell they should:
  • Get tested immediately.
  • Go into isolation off campus or move to a campus quarantine/isolation space for those who have COVID symptoms.
For more information about the COVID-19 Symptom Decision Tree, please visit the Gustavus COVID-19 website.
