COVID-19 Weekly Update: February 19, 2021

TO: The Gustavus Community

FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: February 19, 2021

Please see below for the COVID-19 weekly tip and on-campus case update. As a reminder, these emails are now being sent to the community on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the spring.

WEEKLY TIP
As vaccinations continue to roll out in Minnesota and across the country, the COVID-19 Leadership Team has received several questions about how our community might handle vaccines when the time is right.

The College is currently gathering the names of members of the Gustavus community who meet the criteria for different phases of the Minnesota Department of Health’s (MDH) vaccine rollout and passing that information on to MDH and Nicollet County Public Health. Higher education is not included in Phase 1b of the statewide rollout that is happening now, so our students and staff who have been vaccinated already fall under a different category such as frontline workers. For those who receive the vaccine in Minnesota, Gustavus Health Service will automatically receive notification via the statewide immunization/vaccination system. Members of the Gustavus community who are vaccinated somewhere besides Minnesota should upload their vaccination record to the Gustavus health portal.

Gustavus has been approved to serve as a distributor of the vaccine for members of the college community once public health authorities determine there are enough doses for mass vaccinations in a college setting. We are hopeful that this will happen before the end of the semester but we do not have any information about possible timing.
